What does the "Subset" label do?

Last Updated: May 19, 2017
A subset is a sub-group of data within your overall project. For instance, if you are analyzing the results of a survey, possible subsets might include star ratings or respondents' age range, state/country, gender, department, etc.

Setting up subsets in your data prior to uploading a project enables you to filter and analyze your data based on these different groups. By selecting a subset in the user interface, Luminoso will recalculate the Dynamic Concept Cloud using only the documents contained within the chosen subset.

You can directly compare how your topic is discussed from subset to subset by using different techniques learning in bootcamp training, by leveraging the cloud visualization or by using the different Analysis Exports: Topic-Subset Associations or Topic Match Counts. Please refer to the Quickstart Guide and see "Overview: Additional Tools" for more information on these tools.

Please see "Data Formatting: General Guidelines" for information about creating and labeling subsets within a dataset.

NOTE:
The number of documents (verbatims) contained in each subset is indicated in parenthesis after each 1-5 star rating subset in the UI illustration, above.
