OVERVIEW: Basic Analysis and Reporting Tools

Last Updated: Sep 02, 2016
Once you upload and open a project in your browser, you will see a number of different icons surrounding the Concept Cloud.  Each of these icons represents one or more analytical or reporting tools that you can use as you explore your data.

In the top right-hand corner, you will see two icons: a camera icon and a box icon.

Click the camera icon to export the Concept Cloud as it appears on your screen (at that point in time) in SVG format.

Click the box icon to restore your Concept Cloud to its default shape. In other words, if you have been exploring within the Concept Cloud by setting axes or dragging terms in the cloud, clicking the box icon will reset these changes.

In the bottom left-hand corner, you will see information for the Cloud's axis settings and timeline view.

The axis settings displays which topics, if any, are being utilized in the Concept Cloud. The default settings have neither the X- or Y-axis set (this is what you see in the example illustrated here). However, you can set topics along the X- and Y-axes to better analyze that topic. See related articles on
axes for more information.

Clicking the timeline view (Show timelines) icon will display incidence and trends over time for the total number of documents, as well as for any topics you create. You can choose whether to view the timeline by hour, day, month, or year, depending on the time metadata became available in your data set.

In the bottom right-hand corner, you will see a Chart icon. When you hover your pointer over this icon, the following options will appear:
  • Topic-Subset Associations
  • Concept Clusters
To the right of the Chart icon, you will see a Download icon. When you hover your pointer over this icon, the following options that allow you to download information to Excel will appear:
  • Top Concept Match Counts
  • Topic Match Counts
  • Topic Timelines
  • Topic-Topic Associations
  • Topic-Subset Associations
See the articles "OVERVIEW: Charts Menu" or "OVERVIEW: Downloads Menu" for more information on these last two features.
