New topics are formed and/or recalculated every 5 to 60 minutes and with every 333 messages (default). As new messages are published, Compass will automatically classify them into a new or existing topic.
Note: by default all messages submitted via POST /messages endpoint participate in automatic unsupervised clustering. If an additional classifier (e.g. Voting Classifier) is active, labels assigned by this classifier may be used to filter incoming messages by adding its label or ID to the labels_for_clustering list.
The New Topic Share of Voice graph shows the share of voice for each new topic out of the total conversation related to the seed and related keywords. The share of voice percentage for a new topic represents the volume of that topic as a percentage of all new topics.
There are three actions you can take with a new topic.
The Save Topic will save the selected topic to the Saved Topics panel. In some cases, you may see a topic appear in the New Topics panel that you find particularly interesting or want to follow over a period of time. The best way to do this is to save the topic, which will move it to the Saved Topics panel and prevent it from dropping out of the project if the conversation in this topic begins to decline.
The Block Topic option enables you to block a topic. See the article on "Blocking Topics" for more information.
The More Information option will open a new panel displaying additional information about the topic, including the messages in the topic.
