In Luminoso Daylight, Sentiment is defined at the concept level.
Sentiment_counts
refers to the number of concepts with positive, neutral, and negative sentiments, and sentiment_share
has the same corresponding percentages.
Daylight switched to concept-level sentiment from document-level sentiment in July 2020.
Sentiment is calculated separately for each concept on each document.
Using document-level sentiment, the following document would be identified as negative:
“The tea was good, but the service was awful. I’ve never had such a terrible experience!”.
– Anonymous Customer Review
A search for “tea” or “service” would have considered that document a negative match.
Now that sentiment is calculated on the concept level, “tea” is correctly shown as having positive sentiment in that document, and “service” has negative sentiment.”
